49 years ago today, April, 28, 1975, in the Roosevelt Room at the White House, President Gerald R. Ford, moments after making a decision that led to end of American involvement in Vietnam. In this top secret meeting the president is surrounded by members of his National Security Council. The decision was so momentous, nobody could speak. This is one of my most dramatic photos of the Ford Administration, and a deeply personal and painful occasion. @cntrforcreativephoto ...

Gordon Liddy and former Vice President Spiro Agnew at former President Richard Nixon`s funeral 30 years ago today at the @nixonlibrary Liddy was convicted of the Watergate burglaries and served 4 1/2 years in jail, Agnew resigned as VP after pleading no contest to a single felony charge of tax evasion. President Richard Nixon died 30 years ago on April 22, 1994. The same day @anseladams died in 1984, and as karmic luck would have it, the start of the Trump trial in NYC. Any other April 22nd dates you would like to bring up? Remembering the legendary @anseladams on the 40th anniversary of his death. I took this at his home in Carmel in 1980. That smile tells you everything you need to know about his personality. Aside from being one of the greatest photographers, he was a warm and wonderful human being. Saluting you, Ansel, you gave the world so much, I was proud to be your friend. @beckysenfccp @cntrforcreativephoto @johnsextonphoto @alanrossphotography @improvambassador @bob_ahern #anseladams @tjtubutis @uarizonapres @ ...

An American soldier on patrol outside of Da Nang, S. Vietnam in 1972. When I arrived in Vietnam in ‘71 U.S. troops numbered about 150,000, by the end of ‘72 there were fewer than 25,000. This was one of the last combat patrols I was on with a platoon of American GIs. @cntrforcreativephoto @improvambassador @utnicky @katiemeitayy @nickkennerly @mikebarnicle #vietnam @pulitzerprizes @bobmcneelyphoto @davidburnettfoto @wapokp ...

I`ll be on @cnn tonight with @andersoncooper 8-9pm ET (if I don`t get preempted). Will talk about President Gerald R. Ford`s humanity, my resignation from his foundation, and why @liz.cheney won`t get the Ford medal for Public Service. (Hint: Fear of 45). Tune in! Twelve years ago today I gave a lecture at Herat University in Afghanistan about American democracy and photography. Half the class was made up of young women, and they were excited about their future. Now, under the Taliban, girls can no longer attend college or even high school. The dark ages are back, and it’s heartbreaking. “I’ll Take You There” singer @mavisstaples and I 10 years ago today after President Obama’s speech at the @lbjlibrary Mavis sang “We Shall Overcome” which brought everyone to their feet then held hands and sang along with her. Ten years ago today.
