30 Years Ago at Los Angeles Olympics
Coach Bela Karoli lifts up Mary Lou Retton after she won a gold medal in the 1984 Olympics in L.A. I moved to Los Angeles in 1984 to cover the Olympics and to attend the American Film Institute directing program in the fall. I haven’t left!

CIA Director George Bush during Lebanon crisis in 1976. The former president turned 90 two days ago, and is still going strong. I first met him 40 years ago, and he has always been one of my favorite politicians (and people!).
